Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)

Internship, Lakehurst, NJ, June 2016 - August 2016

Skills: Excel, PTC Creo, Fluid Dynamics, Spring-Damper Systems

This ten week internship took place in the US Navy's steam catapult in-service division (4.8.2.1). In order to stop recurring leaks in the catapult, it had been proposed to replace the current hydraulic system with an electric design. One of the focuses of this design was the utilization of a magnetorhelogical actuator. My role was developing a working mathematical modeling for this actuator. MR dampers were cycled on a shock dyno to gain force and velocity information. This data was applied to existing damper models to create a model for the ship actuator. The results from this would be used to design the new ship actuator.

US Government Secret Security Clearance granted 6/13/16

Unfortunately, I do not have much visual content to share for this experience due to security rules.
